Ghibli Museum vs Ghibli Park Tickets: Full Prices, Sale Dates, and How to Buy Abroad

A Ghibli Museum ticket costs ¥1,000 for an adult and ¥100 for a child aged 4 to 6.[1] Buying one online takes about five minutes once the sale opens. A Ghibli Park Premium Pass runs ¥7,300 on a weekday and ¥7,800 on a weekend, per adult.[2] The same five-minute window applies. Hitting the clock matters as much as the price.
Before you start
- An international Visa, Mastercard, JCB, or Amex card for checkout on Lawson Ticket’s English site or Klook.
- An account already created on Lawson Ticket (l-tike.com) or Klook, since sign-up during the sale rush wastes time.[1]
- Your travel dates fixed, since both venues assign a specific entry date and time slot.
- A local-time alarm set for the exact JST sale moment, converted before the day.
Buying a ticket from overseas, step by step
- Decide the venue first. A Museum ticket and a Park pass are separate products.[1]
- Create your Lawson Ticket or Klook account in advance, since neither venue sells tickets at the gate.[2]
- Check the release rule: the Museum opens sales at 10 a.m. JST on the 10th, for the following month.[1]
- The Park opens sales at 2 p.m. JST on the 10th, two months ahead of your visit month.[2]
- Convert both times to your zone and log in a few minutes early.
- Pick your date, entry time, age tier, and pass type, then pay by card.
- Enter Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse within one hour of your booked time. Early entry is not allowed.[2]
- Save the e-ticket. Buying it for resale is against the Museum’s rules.[1]
Where people get stuck
- Converting the Museum’s JST sale time incorrectly, landing US East Coast readers on the previous evening instead of that same morning.
- Assuming a Museum ticket works at the Park, or the reverse. They sit 35 minutes and roughly 100 minutes from Tokyo in opposite directions.[4]
- Booking a Standard Pass and expecting full access, then finding Howl’s Castle needs a separate fee at the door.[2]
- Assuming Klook is museum-endorsed. The museum’s own page lists only Lawson Ticket and Sunrise Tours JTB as overseas channels.[1]
- Waiting until the sale hour to set up a payment account, then missing the first-minute rush.
Ghibli Museum and Ghibli Park are separate, non-interchangeable tickets
Ghibli Museum sits in Mitaka, reachable by JR Chuo Line in 35 minutes from Tokyo Station or 20 minutes from Shinjuku Station.[4] Ghibli Park sits inside the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park near Nagoya. It opened in 2022 and takes about 100 minutes from Tokyo Station by Nozomi Shinkansen.[4] No pass covers both sites.

| Ghibli Museum, by age | Price |
|---|---|
| 19 and over | ¥1,000 |
| 13 to 18 | ¥700 |
| 7 to 12 | ¥400 |
| 4 to 6 | ¥100 |
| 3 and under | Free |
Prices come from the museum’s own ticket page.[1]
| Ghibli Park pass | Adult, weekday | Adult, weekend/holiday | Child 4-12, weekday | Child 4-12, weekend/holiday |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | ¥7,300 | ¥7,800 | ¥3,650 | ¥3,900 |
| Standard | ¥3,300 | ¥3,800 | ¥1,650 | ¥1,900 |
Children up to age three enter free.[2] Standard Pass holders pay separately for three buildings inside Valley of Witches.[2] An adult pays ¥1,000 at Howl’s Castle, ¥400 at the Okino Residence, and ¥400 at the House of Witches.[2] Child fees at these buildings are exactly half. For a sense of how Klook’s fees stack up against rivals on other Japan bookings, Klook vs KKday for Japan Activities covers what actually sets the price.
Sale times run on a fixed JST clock, not your calendar
The Museum’s next sale opens at 10 a.m. JST on October 10, 2026, for November 2026 dates.[1] The Park’s next sale opens at 2 p.m. JST the same day, for December 2026 dates.[3] That gap traces back to one announcement: November 2026 reservations went on sale September 10, 2026.[3] Converted to five common time zones, October 10, 2026 falls on the same calendar day in each.

| Zone | Museum sale (10am JST) | Park sale (2pm JST) |
|---|---|---|
| US Eastern (EDT) | Previous evening, Oct 9 | Just after midnight, Oct 10 |
| US Pacific (PDT) | Early evening, Oct 9 | Late evening, Oct 9 |
| UK (BST) | 2:00 AM, Oct 10 | 6:00 AM, Oct 10 |
| Sydney (AEDT) | 12:00 PM, Oct 10 | 4:00 PM, Oct 10 |
| Singapore (SGT) | 9:00 AM, Oct 10 | 1:00 PM, Oct 10 |
US East Coast buyers lose a calendar day converting the Museum’s release; it lands the evening before. Australia’s clocks had already sprung forward by this date, so Sydney sits an hour further ahead than it would in September.
What it actually costs, per September 2026 prices
| Line item | Solo, Museum (Lawson) | Family of 4, Park Sat., Premium | Couple, Park weekday, Standard + 2 add-ons | Couple, Park weekday, Premium instead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Museum admission, adult | ¥1,000 | |||
| Park Premium, adult ×2 | ¥15,600 | ¥14,600 | ||
| Park Premium, child 4-12 ×2 | ¥7,800 | |||
| Park Standard, adult ×2 | ¥6,600 | |||
| Howl’s Castle add-on ×2 | ¥2,000 | |||
| Okino Residence add-on ×2 | ¥800 | |||
| Total | ¥1,000 | ¥23,400 | ¥9,400 | ¥14,600 |
The family total is ¥7,800 × 2 plus ¥3,900 × 2, or ¥23,400 for two adults and two children on a Saturday.[2] The couple’s Standard Pass plus two add-ons comes to ¥3,300 × 2 plus ¥1,000 × 2 plus ¥400 × 2, or ¥9,400. That is still ¥5,200 below buying two Premium Passes at ¥14,600. Premium’s real advantage is access to Hill of Youth and Dondoko Forest, areas Standard doesn’t cover at all, not avoiding entry fees.[4] For budgeting the rest of a Tokyo-to-Nagoya trip, Japan Trip Cost by Travel Style has the wider numbers.

If your dates are already sold out
Check back at the next release date rather than paying a reseller. Museum slots reopen monthly and Park slots reopen every two months, both on the 10th.[1] Sunrise Tours JTB bundles a Museum visit with 2.5 hours inside plus a stop at the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, drawn from a separate ticket allocation.[4] It also runs Ghibli Park day trips from Nagoya that include an admission ticket to the park.[4] Avoid any site reselling a Museum ticket outside these channels. The museum states plainly that buying for resale is not allowed.[1]
